Former Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly isn’t a fan of the new “Supergirl” movie, but she is relishing its disappointing performance at the box office.
The latest DC film, starring Milly Alcock as Superman’s cousin, had an underwhelming opening weekend at the domestic box office, earning $38 million, according to studio estimates released by Rentrak on Sunday, June 28. The film, which was expected to start with closer to $50 million domestically, stands to lose anywhere between $100 million and $120 million in its theatrical run, Variety reported.
On a June 29 episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” the host, 55, said the film’s lack of success is a sign of audiences growing tired of female-led superhero movies that are “not authentic” or “not organic.” She argued that Hollywood studios expect audiences to support films in the genre simply because the main character is a woman.
